Knitting to lose weight?

So as most of my friends know, I'm trying to lose some weight and get fit. Mostly I want to lose weight just to get healthy and in a comfortable spot so that if I do happen to gain ten pounds after a terribly stressful time, I'll still be in the "safe zone." And also so that when my hair doctor gives me a shot of cortisone he won't warn me to "Be careful of overeating so that you don't grow obese." Now granted, I'm far away from obese but still it would be nice not to hear. Though the nurse did say that I was looking a bit thinner the last time I went in.

But I've figured out a way to use my knitting to help me lose weight. When I wake up in the morning, I'm not allowed to touch my yarn, needles, or patterns or go on any knitting websites until I've worked out, showered, and rogained. See, that's another problem I'm having. I keep forgetting to put on my rogaine. And that's just not good. It's already going to take a year or so for me to see some serious results and here I am haulting them! You'd think I'd give a bigger crap about it but apparently I dont. Boo.

I've found some awesome patterns for summer, lots of nice tops and even *gasps* skirts! My goal is to show Miss Burnett that there ARE good wearable knitting patterns out there that don't make you look like a mother.

I feel awful. I haven't even started writing the next chapters for BV and MLO. I'm just sort of stuck on the both. BV feels like it's not going anywhere and I want so bad to hurry things up and get to the good stuff, but I can't. That's what I didn't like about the last version so I'll be damned if I do it again this time.

MLO, well, I just don't know what to do about that. I mean I love the storyline but it seems as though I'm rushing things and when I finally do get the two together, it'll be forced and it just wont fit. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid.

I talked to Susanna finally saturyday morning for about four or five hours. Yep, we talked from about 11:30 at night to 4:00 in the morning. But she mentioned continuing SASM. Maybe I should, just for her.

But guess what? I woke up early this morning! Yep, 9:13 to be exact. I'm so proud of myself! And no naps for me today. I can't risk staying with my normal sleep schedule of going to bed at dawn and waking up mid afternoon. It's just not cool! Problem is I'm already getting sleepy again. Oy, I think I need another cup of coffee!

No More Needles!

So I think I need to lock my kniting needles away for the next week or so for finals. I just get so distracted I forget to study! But i did finally finish the thong for Sarah's birthday on saturday and I some yarn for the Snape doll I want to make. I was going to get just plain white for his skin but then I saw this awesome off whiteish color that would be perfect for his icky sallow skin :)

Still haven't seen the newest doctor who episode. I saw two clips that were posted on youtube (meeting the mother, and an invitation to travel) and I'm just itching to watch it.

Finally was able to download Genesis of the Dalek's and I watched most of it last night before bed. The rest I think I'll watch after lunch. And I can't WAIT to try to make that scarf. I've heard it takes like two months to do! Maybe I'll just use bigger needles :)

Again my fanfiction writing has been put on hold. And I was doing so well! Three updates in just under a month. Oy. Well hopefully I'll be able to crank out two more chapters before saturday.

Busy Little Bee!

So I've been a busy little knitting bee lately, though I do think it's progress that I haven't skipped any of my classes just for knitting. Yet. Well at least since Easter break :) Anyway I thought I'd post all the projects that I've finished in the last two weeks. Well after undoing about twelve scarves, I finally started on the Ravenclaw bag I made for my friend Jazmine's birthday. I also plan on making her a ravenclaw hat and the illusion scarf but right now I'm in major sock mode. It was torture knitting the strap with my DPN's in sight. Anyway I'm really proud of the bag. The R is nicely spaced on the front, I didn't have to reinforce the letter because of loose knitting, and I even knit an inside panel complete with pockets to hide the yarn on the inside. Here are some pics (beware, I had to use my cheap $10 digital camera so it's not the best)

And here's the inside pockets, and the strap

Now I made a Slytherin hat (sort of) for my friend Brian's birthday and I loved it so much I wanted to make one for myself. So I did.

I made it a lot shorter than his. I wish I would have put the silver stripes down a bit lower but no matter, I still love it anyway. And it's nice and cozy. I think this may actualy turn me into a hat wearer! 0.0 And for this hat I actualy read the directions to the finish and discovered that you don't stop once you hit K2 K2tog*, but you go on until you're just at K2tog and all the stitching up you gotta to is just thread the needle through the stitches, pull, and voila! And then it comes to a nice little circle/raised point thing

And then this is a hat that I made just for kicks. It's really suppossed to match the socks that I was making but, well, I miss read the directions on the kitchener stich and sort of screwed up the top of it. Oh well, I have plenty of yarn to make another and it's not as though I'm going to use that yarn for anything else. Anyway, here it is!

And I said before that I had gone sock crazy, right? Well all I've basically been doing is using Silvers sock tutorial and doing that over and over until I'm sure that I have the pattern down and then I can move on to more challenging socks :) But here's some that I've made.

This is a pair that I made for my mum:

And a pair that I was going to give to my roomate, but decided to keep because the yarn is just. that. soft.

Now as for the projects I'm currently working on. I just have to finish the toe and grafting of my last mom sock, then I wanted to finish my first sweater before the end of the semester but I doubt that will be happening thanks to my red yarn shortage (who knew a pound went by so quickly?). But I am planning on making a sort of gag gift for my friend Sarah. Her birthday's the day after I move back home and she says she wants NOTHING for her birthday, so I'm planning on knitting her a thong. She'd never expect it and, well, I think it'd be halarious to see her face :)

So that's pretty much all that's going on in my little knitting world. Kelsey says she's planning on getting some DPN's and trying out a sock. I told her to hurry, not much time left in the semester and she will most definately need my help. But she's started her second pillow and I'm jealous. I started doing a Chuddley Cannons one but I messed up and ripped out the whole thing in a fit of rage. Yeah, not a good idea. Oh! And I had just enough cafecash built up on cafepress.com to get myself this nifty t-shirt I found. It says I SHIP SS/HG and then underneath in pretty little writing it says," It's Delusional Bliss" Of course it's spelled right but you get the idea. I'm so excited! Sure I won't be able to wear it around certain friends because, well, I'll get ripped to shreads and lectured first on my HP obsession, second on the fact that I want a girl and a guy more than twice her age to get married and have babies, and thrid on the content of my own ss/hg stories. Honestly, when did saying nipple become bad?

I found a place online where you can watch all of the newer Doctor Who episodes so that's basically how i've been spending the last couple days. Every free minute I'm watching it. I only wish Kelsey liked it. Anyway I've already started saving up so that I can buy the seasons of Doctor Who, old and new, which should end up being round $800. So far I have 40 cents. So if you want to contribue to the Get-Me-Doctor-Who fund, let me know ;)

Edit: So I put the pictures and stuff behind the link. Just was too big. Anyway for pictures click the link :)

So it's official. I'm actually going to use this thing! Yeah surpise suprise. Anyway I figure that since I'm a part of a knitting community on here, this would be a nice place to update on my knitting and such. I'm excited about all the projects that I've finished/am finishing/am about to start and I want to talk about it!

I just finished my first normal looking non-HP hat and while I don't really like it for me, I'm sure one of my funkier friends will love it. Still need to knit the strap to Jazmine's ravenclaw bag. And I need to start on the illusion scarf that I wanted to send her as well. Ugh! Not enough time in the day.

I still have yet to finish my second sock so one of my poor feet has been going cold lately. It's quite sad.

I took out the pattern for the Weasley Sweater that I printed from Leaky and I think today's the day that I'm going to attempt it. I'm slightly frightened because I've never tried anything this complicated and I'm not even going to bother with figuring out if it will fit me perfectly, all I'm worried about right now is getting through it without pulling out what little is left of my hair. I am quite excited though and I can't wait to see what my roomate thinks. We haven't even done mittens yet because I think it's too complicated and here I am doing a sweater. But then again, I said my goal was to figure out the whole sweater thing before the end of the semester and there's hardly a month left so it's about time I got something like this on my needles. But this is definately going to trump her pillow making. Don't know why she's doing another one. Yes she has extra yarn but she still has her hat on the needles! Oh well, it's up to her I guess.

I wish I had pictures but I forgot to download the software, and bring the cord, nessacary so I'm just going to have to wait two weeks till I go home again. YAY for doctors appointments!
