| Knitting to lose weight? |
[Jun. 5th, 2007|10:45 am] |
So as most of my friends know, I'm trying to lose some weight and get fit. Mostly I want to lose weight just to get healthy and in a comfortable spot so that if I do happen to gain ten pounds after a terribly stressful time, I'll still be in the "safe zone." And also so that when my hair doctor gives me a shot of cortisone he won't warn me to "Be careful of overeating so that you don't grow obese." Now granted, I'm far away from obese but still it would be nice not to hear. Though the nurse did say that I was looking a bit thinner the last time I went in.
But I've figured out a way to use my knitting to help me lose weight. When I wake up in the morning, I'm not allowed to touch my yarn, needles, or patterns or go on any knitting websites until I've worked out, showered, and rogained. See, that's another problem I'm having. I keep forgetting to put on my rogaine. And that's just not good. It's already going to take a year or so for me to see some serious results and here I am haulting them! You'd think I'd give a bigger crap about it but apparently I dont. Boo.
I've found some awesome patterns for summer, lots of nice tops and even *gasps* skirts! My goal is to show Miss Burnett that there ARE good wearable knitting patterns out there that don't make you look like a mother.
I feel awful. I haven't even started writing the next chapters for BV and MLO. I'm just sort of stuck on the both. BV feels like it's not going anywhere and I want so bad to hurry things up and get to the good stuff, but I can't. That's what I didn't like about the last version so I'll be damned if I do it again this time.
MLO, well, I just don't know what to do about that. I mean I love the storyline but it seems as though I'm rushing things and when I finally do get the two together, it'll be forced and it just wont fit. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid.
I talked to Susanna finally saturyday morning for about four or five hours. Yep, we talked from about 11:30 at night to 4:00 in the morning. But she mentioned continuing SASM. Maybe I should, just for her.
But guess what? I woke up early this morning! Yep, 9:13 to be exact. I'm so proud of myself! And no naps for me today. I can't risk staying with my normal sleep schedule of going to bed at dawn and waking up mid afternoon. It's just not cool! Problem is I'm already getting sleepy again. Oy, I think I need another cup of coffee! |

| No More Needles! |
[May. 7th, 2007|12:26 pm] |
So I think I need to lock my kniting needles away for the next week or so for finals. I just get so distracted I forget to study! But i did finally finish the thong for Sarah's birthday on saturday and I some yarn for the Snape doll I want to make. I was going to get just plain white for his skin but then I saw this awesome off whiteish color that would be perfect for his icky sallow skin :)
Still haven't seen the newest doctor who episode. I saw two clips that were posted on youtube (meeting the mother, and an invitation to travel) and I'm just itching to watch it.
Finally was able to download Genesis of the Dalek's and I watched most of it last night before bed. The rest I think I'll watch after lunch. And I can't WAIT to try to make that scarf. I've heard it takes like two months to do! Maybe I'll just use bigger needles :)
Again my fanfiction writing has been put on hold. And I was doing so well! Three updates in just under a month. Oy. Well hopefully I'll be able to crank out two more chapters before saturday. |

| Busy Little Bee! |
[Apr. 18th, 2007|10:30 am] |
So I've been a busy little knitting bee lately, though I do think it's progress that I haven't skipped any of my classes just for knitting. Yet. Well at least since Easter break :) Anyway I thought I'd post all the projects that I've finished in the last two weeks. Well after undoing about twelve scarves, I finally started on the Ravenclaw bag I made for my friend Jazmine's birthday. I also plan on making her a ravenclaw hat and the illusion scarf but right now I'm in major sock mode. It was torture knitting the strap with my DPN's in sight. Anyway I'm really proud of the bag. The R is nicely spaced on the front, I didn't have to reinforce the letter because of loose knitting, and I even knit an inside panel complete with pockets to hide the yarn on the inside. Here are some pics (beware, I had to use my cheap $10 digital camera so it's not the best)
Edit: So I put the pictures and stuff behind the link. Just was too big. Anyway for pictures click the link :) |

| Decesions, decesioiins |
[Apr. 11th, 2007|10:26 am] |
So it's official. I'm actually going to use this thing! Yeah surpise suprise. Anyway I figure that since I'm a part of a knitting community on here, this would be a nice place to update on my knitting and such. I'm excited about all the projects that I've finished/am finishing/am about to start and I want to talk about it!
I just finished my first normal looking non-HP hat and while I don't really like it for me, I'm sure one of my funkier friends will love it. Still need to knit the strap to Jazmine's ravenclaw bag. And I need to start on the illusion scarf that I wanted to send her as well. Ugh! Not enough time in the day.
I still have yet to finish my second sock so one of my poor feet has been going cold lately. It's quite sad.
I took out the pattern for the Weasley Sweater that I printed from Leaky and I think today's the day that I'm going to attempt it. I'm slightly frightened because I've never tried anything this complicated and I'm not even going to bother with figuring out if it will fit me perfectly, all I'm worried about right now is getting through it without pulling out what little is left of my hair. I am quite excited though and I can't wait to see what my roomate thinks. We haven't even done mittens yet because I think it's too complicated and here I am doing a sweater. But then again, I said my goal was to figure out the whole sweater thing before the end of the semester and there's hardly a month left so it's about time I got something like this on my needles. But this is definately going to trump her pillow making. Don't know why she's doing another one. Yes she has extra yarn but she still has her hat on the needles! Oh well, it's up to her I guess.
I wish I had pictures but I forgot to download the software, and bring the cord, nessacary so I'm just going to have to wait two weeks till I go home again. YAY for doctors appointments! |
